The Sun on Wings and Petals

The Sun on Wings and Petals is a study of the interplay of light with flowered and winged creatures of a wildflower garden.  "Iridescence" features various timbral effects, such as harmonics and timbral glissandi from sul ponticello to sul tasto, to mimic the shimmering iridescence in flower petals and insect wings in bright sunlight.  "Glow" uses unison double stops and drones to suggest the hazy glow of wings and petals that are backlit.  "Vibrance" is a fast and energetic dance representing the flurry of bird and insect activity during their peak daylight hours.
