Heralding Light

Heralding Light was commissioned by Nick Brown via the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra to honor the Southwest Power Pool's 75th anniversary.  The title reflects the power company’s operations and the brilliant, celebratory nature of the piece.  The piece opens with a stately and virtuosic fanfare and takes full advantage of the regal power offered by a brass quintet.  A lyrical middle section provides contrast, presenting the fanfare motives in a slower, more sensitive manner.  The opening section returns and gives way to a climactic and triumphant conclusion.
