Regal Themes

Sturdy built and with stately gait, Regal Themes draws majesty from the orchestra in this highly contrapuntal fanfare.  The overall blocky vertical construction of the piece features thick string and brass flourishes, contrasting with lush, soloistic melodies.  The main theme is presented simply in the opening with heavy low strings, and is varied throughout the piece in numerous iterations, from fugal to lyrical, culminating in a triumphant and thrilling climax.
